The natural medicine of the Dacians protects the stomach and lungs, treats infections and kidneys

In recent decades, comfrey has been one of the most used plants worldwide. In Switzerland, the country with the greatest tradition in the field of herbal medicines, more than half of the external preparations produced in the last decade have been comfrey-based. The cosmetic industry currently makes extensive use of allantoin, one of the most important active principles of comfrey, which is practically not present in deodorants and body creams.

Unfortunately, in domestic use, the comfrey was less used, since it was one of the first victims of the information war between small firms that produce herbal medicines and large pharmaceutical concerns.

Therapeutic effects

It is a plant widely known and used since Dacian times, its original name in the Dacian language – Prodiarnela – reaching until today due to its record by Dioscorides, the famous physician of antiquity, in his treatise. In Romanian folk medicine it has more than a hundred uses, both internally and externally.

Hyperacid gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer

Take half a teaspoon of comfrey powder 3-4 times a day on an empty stomach. Comfrey reduces acidity, favors scarring, protects the walls of the stomach. It is usually combined with another half a teaspoon of powder from an aromatic plant chosen according to the patient’s needs: chamomile (for irritable people), valerian or St. John’s wort (for gastritis and ulcers that occur on the background of anxiety), mint or lavender (for choleric people), calamus or basil (for anxious-depressive characters).

Throat diseases, lung diseases

Throat infections, cough produced by various causes, tracheo-bronchitis, bronchitis, trenchant pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis.

Slowly chew a piece of comfrey root, leaving the emollient and regenerative epithelial active principles to be extracted by saliva and reach the neck area. The fresh root has a neutral, pleasant taste and is especially active. The dried root will be ground beforehand and chewed for a minimum of 15 minutes before swallowing. 3 fragments of fresh root with a length of 2-3 cm per day or 3 half-teaspoons of dried comfrey per day are consumed.

Comfrey has the quality of stimulating the elimination of toxic secretions from the bronchial tree and lungs, as well as stimulating the restoration of tissues affected by the infection.

Diarrhea, dysentery, intestinal infections

Comfrey normalizes intestinal transit and stops the process of the disease by precipitating proteins in the intestinal contents. Drink before each meal with a quarter of an hour and as many times as needed, one glass of the aqueous extract obtained by maceration and decoction.

Urinary (cystitis) and kidney infections (nephritis, pyelonephritis), kidney and bladder stones

Through the mucilages it contains, the comfrey favors the relaxation of tissues, diminishes the inflammatory state and stops hemorrhage. It is usually taken in the form of aqueous extract, along with other plants: juniper (as an anti-infective), cranberry and birch (as anti-lithiasis), 1 teaspoon grated of each plant mentioned.

Cancer
